2nd at second
second race of the year over the weekend. Hillside Park in Elk River. fun course. fast. rolling, short hills and good flow.
option of 1 lap at about 7 miles or 2 laps with advanced riders at about 14 miles. was told sport class should do 1 lap and was planning on loading a truckload of mulch after the race so i did the 1 lap.
took off on the drop of a pirate flag and headed down the road. came to single track after 1/2 mile or so that was a lot of fun. didn't push much at first and hung out with a group at a relaxed pace. took off after a while and caught up with the back of the advanced riders. not a lot of chances to pass but finally did and pushed it a bit more. got to be by myself after a while and my computer said i was well over 8 miles. got to wondering if i had missed a turn but kept going and came out of the woods just over 9 miles i think. came in 2nd without doing the stop at the whiskey shot being offered. (i didn't see it but heard about it afterword. hard to know if i would have stopped or not. others were glad they did). I think my lap was 46 minutes and something.
informal, relaxed race with no points but a good time. course is a blast and there is a series race there in august.
